Professor Chris Jones, Social Theme Lead, recently attended and presented at British Flame’s annual Flame Days event, held at the RNLI College in Poole, Dorset.
Formed in 1956, The British Flame Research Committee is a professional association that bridges the gap between industry and academia by recognising and understanding R&D progress and the demands on industrial combustion to become more efficient and safe with minimum environmental impact. The organisation spans themes such as power generation, metals, petrochemicals, cement, equipment suppliers and fuel services.
Professor Jones presented on the topic of ‘Social Acceptance of Hydrogen in the UK’, challenging assumptions, exploring how views are shaped, and supporting better decisions surrounding hydrogen technology.
Hydrogen technologies will affect communities, consumers, and businesses in different ways; listening to the people affected by hydrogen choices and awareness of public views of hydrogen across the UK is vital for understanding where, how and for whom hydrogen technologies make sense.
The presentation was well-received and will lead to further conversations about collaborative research and innovation opportunities going forward.
